The Church Building Project

A sanctuary, a fellowship hall and a missional training center for Christ the Rock Ministries — a non-denominational church in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, Philippines.

“Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men.”

Mark 1:17 ESV

Introduction

Christ the Rock Ministries, Inc. — a duly registered non-denominational church in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, Philippines — respectfully submits this proposal for the consideration of prospective partners, donors and grant-making institutions.

The purpose of this proposal is to request funding for the completion of our Church Building Project: a permanent sanctuary, a fellowship hall, and the Antioch Missional Training Center. The project is organized into four phases. Phase 1 has been completed and funded entirely by our own congregation. The three remaining phases require a total of ₱3,017,000 (approximately USD 52,000).

This facility will give our congregation a permanent home for worship and discipleship, provide a gathering place for churches across our city, and establish a training center that equips evangelists, church planters and disciple-makers for the wider region. The pages that follow set out who we are, the ministry we are already conducting, the plans and renderings for the building, and a phase-by-phase breakdown of the funds requested.

Respectfully submitted by Pastor Andrew L. Scribner on behalf of Christ the Rock Ministries, Inc.

Regarding

The Church Building Project of Christ the Rock Ministries

Part One

Who we are

We are a non-denominational church focused on making disciples. We exist to speak the truth of Jesus to a city in deep need of Him, and to become worshipful disciples who influence others to follow Christ.

Our mission is to train believers to share Jesus's light in our city and beyond. We evangelize to unbelievers and disciple believers to be Christ's ambassadors, who will in turn teach others to do the same.

Philosophy of Ministry

Grace, and the whole body of Christ at work

We believe in the priesthood of all believers (1 Peter 2:9) — that every Christian is called to proclaim the praises of Him who brought us out of darkness into His marvelous light. We affirm the fivefold ministry of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers who equip the saints for the work of ministry (Ephesians 4:11–12). At the heart of all we do is the message of Jesus's grace and righteousness.

G

Great Commission Focus

We train believers to evangelize and make disciples, following the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19–20).

R

Responsibility of All Believers

We believe in the priesthood of all believers — every Christian is called to share God's light and be active in ministry (1 Peter 2:9).

A

Active Ministry for Everyone

Everyone can serve, while the fivefold ministry equips the saints for the work of ministry (Ephesians 4:11–12).

C

Christ-Centered Message

Our message always points to Jesus's grace and righteousness, reflecting His love in all we do (2 Corinthians 5:20).

E

Equipping for Influence

We influence others through worship and discipleship, sending out ambassadors for Christ in our city and beyond.

Objectives

What we are already doing

Hope for the hopeless

Prison, homeless, boulevard and school feeding ministries — meeting physical needs while introducing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Clear proclamation of the Gospel

Gospel concerts and outreach events across the city, always paired with a shared meal, because food is a universal need.

Reaching the youth

A para-church youth ministry that disciples young people and trains youth pastors and leaders to pursue the call.

Teaching and discipling believers

Life2Life Discipleship groups for every age, growing spiritual competency and shaping character.

Leadership seminars

Leadership is what our churches most often lack. People know the Gospel but need the skills to lead others in it.

Worship and fellowship events

City-wide worship gatherings that bring congregations and traditions together.

Part Two

Our building project

Join us as we build a space for worship, real community, outreach, and missional training and mobilization. Beyond our Sunday celebration and regular activities, this building will host a school, a missional mobilization team, a training center, and monthly worship and fellowship for our city.

Building a strong community in Christ takes time — and a place to grow in relationship with God and with each other.

We want to create a distinctive culture of discipleship: a lifestyle of self-denial, cross-carrying and unwavering obedience to Christ that overflows in love for the lost. Our Life2Life Discipleship groups invite people of every age into small groups that raise spiritual competency and shape character.

Our two biggest constraints are time and space. The larger venues we can rent are available only in limited blocks and at real financial cost. This project removes both constraints permanently.

How the space will be used

Four purposes, one building

01

Space for Discipleship and Worship

Our current space is too small to hold our members, let alone invite the community in. A phase-by-phase facility gives us room to gather, train leaders, and grow — and to host our own events whenever we choose, without renting.

02

Space for Fellowship

We will host interchurch fellowship once or twice a month, bringing congregations across Dumaguete together for worship. Before ascending, Jesus prayed “that they may be one.” This space makes that prayer practical.

03

Antioch Missional Training Center

Not a traditional Bible school. A hands-on center training evangelists, church planters and disciple-makers through practical lessons and practicums.

04

Center for the Kairos Children's Fund

The building becomes home base for the children's educational fund, hosting seminars and hands-on trainings for children and their parents.
